About The Minute By Minute Band
Minute by Minute was formed by Larry Lippman and Bill Gerrity in the late spring of 2011. Larry and Bill have been performing together in the Long Island, New York based funk band, Funky In The Middle, for the past ten years. They decided to take on the challenge of building a group of highly skilled musicians who are also close friends outside of the music world. Many of these friendships have been built over many years through involvements in other musical collaborations. This unique combination of music through friendships have combined to make a truly positive energy within the band. This energy is centrally derived from our universal love and admiration for the music of The Doobie Brothers and Michael McDonald.
The music within the show brings together past decades of Grammy award winning material of The Doobie Brothers before and after Michael McDonald joined the band in 1975. The group also highlights some of Michael McDonald's solo work beyond the Doobie Brothers from collaborations with artists such as Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross and other well known artists. All members of the band grew up listening to the music that we currently perform and share a love of this material that has carried through the years.
Group performances are based on the idea of a musical show. The music has been meticulously studied and rehearsed for a full energy show with a high bar standard of musicianship. There are segments of audience participation as well as comedic vignettes to make for an extremely fun and exciting experience for all. The band strives to consistently alter the song selections for each performance so returning audiences always participate in a different performance by the artists. In addition, many shows include an additional horn section of trumpet and trombone. These arrangements have been brilliantly created by sought after Minute by Minute band member, saxophone extraordinaire, Adam Seely. The artists share the belief that the blending of audience and the group coming together during performances allows for a true celebration of some really legendary music. We hope to continue to share that celebration with our fans for years to come.
